crowborough Crowborough C rowborough RFC was formed in 1936 and has gone on to put together a history of which they have every right to be proud. Their Chairman, Graham Callard took the time to tell us more about how the club is getting along at present. Atmosphere He told us, “Players, members and supporters alike are buoyant about where we are and where we are going, both on and off the field. We have a tremendous cadre of volunteers (coaches, administrators, workers), a loyal band of locally grown talent on the field, and a large and vociferous following at games. The Rugby World Cup is aiding the excitement about the season ahead.”   This Season “Last season was challenging for our senior sides as towards the end of the campaign we were plagued with an unprecedented injury list. Despite this, all our senior sides maintained their league positions which was an excellent outcome. Our fantastic mini and junior sections acquitted themselves well in tournaments and leagues with several trophies coming our way, often at the expense of clubs who might be perceived as being ‘bigger’. Most importantly we maintained our reputation for playing and doing things the right way, keeping rugby’s core values in mind at all times.”   The Off-Season “For the players and townsfolk we are running the excellent 02 Touch program. This is alongside senior training which is already underway. Off the field we have a full diary of club hires and events. We are proud of our community credentials and the fact the community recognises us as a ‘go to’ venue for parties and business meetings is great. Obvi
