It sounds like it’s been around for years, but is, nevertheless, being played for the first time. In fact, without the realisation of a vision by long time rugby stalwart Peter Oram in Yorkshire, the club would have remained an unplayed ‘B’ side to the already established and successful British Police RFC. Yet considering the momentum it has achieved already - it looks certain to be a hit. A committee has been established, generous performance based sponsorship from Kings Security has been offered, a fixture list is being confirmed, with the inaugural game being the mouthwatering prospect of facing their Australian counterparts in a test match in London, just as Rugby fever threatens to reach its zenith in the capital. 10 Issue 56 Who could resist a ‘feast’ of rugby like the one to be served on October 10th at the Imber Court ground in London? An appetiser of the Met Police versus the NYPD, a main course of England Police versus Australia Police, and a dessert of Australia v Wales in the RWC at Twickenham! Plus, dare we mention the prospect of a ‘wafer thin mint’ to finish? Served by watching England succeed in surpassing Uruguay in the group stage! Even the most voracious appetite for rugby could reach the point of overload! So we move to the team, 19 forces sent their most gifted player nominations to the two day selection camp in May, held in Birmingham. This culminated in the first of two planned ‘Probables v Possibles’ games at the end of the camp. The number was reduced by 14, with a further camp scheduled for September in Birmingham, after which coach Rhys Morgan and his staff will select their squad of 25.
