llanidloes RC: Would you consider yours to be a community club? SM: Absolutely, This is an area we are focusing on. We have advertised that any local charities can use our facilities for free as well the families of our players. I want the club to be seen as a family friendly hub for our community. RC: Regarding your facility, does it receive favourable comments from visiting teams? Are you keen to expand/improve on what you have? SM: Llanidloes RFC is so well thought of throughout the rugby community in Wales for our facilities. It is a symbol of what can be achieved with the right people with abundant enthusiasm. We will always maintain our player focus but also strive to keep improving our facilities for the next generation to be as proud as we are. RC: Are there any guys showing particular promise at the club? SM: The whole of the 1st team; it is incredible what they are achieving this season and nice to see some of our more experienced players back. Two of our U16 team are now in the RGC U16 Team Celt Lewis & Ifan Jones. I also have to mention my son Tom Morgan. He’s playing his rugby in the Championship for Cardiff Met this season, but has Captained Wales Academicals, and been selected for both Wales Students Union & League Squads. RC: What do you believe could be some of the biggest challenges the club may face in the next 5 years? SM: Like many clubs, financial security will always be a challenge. But to continue to attract people to be involved in all aspects of our club will remain the biggest challenge. We are very lucky to have such committed members and coaches that give massive amounts of their own time to ensure the Boyos play rugby, and the club facilities are there to support this and the community. We always need new people. RC: Where would you like to see the club 5 years from now? SM: To be a known as a family friendly, community club for everyone to enjoy, with a full Junior section from U8 to U16, a junior Girls section (this is being launched this Month), continuing to grow our Junior festival held on the 2nd and 3rd week of September each year and achieve one of the largest 7’s festivals in Wales (We launch the 1st one on 18th July this year). Also of course we want the 1st team playing at the highest standard that we can achieve. Last but not least we want a few more Llanidloes Lads and Ladies on the wall of the club house with Wales caps. www.pitchero.com/clubs/llanidloesrfc- Twitter : @LlanidloesRFC www.sportip.biz 107
