rotherham clifton Youth “Until recently we have always run a successful and busy junior section. We have struggled in the very recent past to maintain full teams; however, our current 1st and 2nd team squads include 17 players that are a product of our junior section. One of our key objectives for next season is to re-establish this and provide a strong pipeline, as well as involving youngsters from our area in the club.” Community “We are very much a community set up, we consider ourselves a grass roots club, but with some ambition to improve the standard of rugby played. The social side of rugby is important to our players and members. Many of our members are former players, equally so on the club’s committee, in fact our current chairman was the clubs longest serving 1st XV Captain, and has been involved with the club from the beginning as have a number of other members. We regularly provide players for local charity games, particularly the annual Boxing Day fixture between south Yorkshire clubs. We have also run events for charity in conjunction with the MS society and our coaching team is also involved in school and county rugby.”   Challenges/Ambitions “Next season represents a big step up for us on the playing front, though the recent bowl competition and tour has shown that we are capable of competing at a higher level; however we are constantly looking for new talent to give extra strength in depth in order to cope with the extra travelling commitments and increased number of fixtures. We are also working hard off the field. We have developed strong relationships with a number of local partner sponsors and we continue to work hard to consolidate and develop new links in the local community. We want to establish ourselves as a Yorkshire 3 team (requiring another promotion) and increase th e number of senior teams and establish and maintain a thriving junior section.”   www.pitchero.com/clubs/rotherhamcliftonrufc - Twitter : @RothClifton www.sportip.biz 105
