bridgend sports what we’re doing. It will be vital to keep the youth section going in order to allow us to do so. We’re aware that there are a lot of other attractions for people these days so we need to keep making rugby attractive for them. There’s a bid drop off as a whole between 18 and 21 with people going off to university and the more players we can get to come back to play for us the better.” Ambitions “Over the coming years we want to continue progressing both on and off the field. We’ve aspirations to achieve just like any other club; I’d be a bit tentative to specify which league we want to be in but so long as we keep improving season on season we’ll be on the right track. As long as we’re playing attractive rugby, the players are enjoying it and there’s a good atmosphere that’s the main thing.” Gary Punter works as an after sales manager for Sinclair Audi a valued club sponsor of Bridgend Sports RFC; he is also a back row forward for the club. He recently told Rugby Club Magazine, “I started playing for the club in my early 20s and although I was originally a 6 or 7, I am now in the back row. This season has allowed the club to field two senior teams every Saturday which makes a big difference and reflects positively on the keenness of players wanting to be involved. We have had to ask some clubs if it’s ok for us to bring 27 or so players along. This is particularly heart-warming as in times gone by we have struggled with numbers. The guys are showing a great maturity this year and that has also made a difference, I like to lead by example and this attitude I believe helps me in my working life with Sinclair Audi, I am not a shouter. I am very proud of our association with the club and wish everyone continued success at Bridgend Sports RFC.” www.bridgendsportsclubrfc.mywru.co.uk- Twitter : @BridgendSports www.sportip.biz 97
