millbrook
Kevin Byatt, has grown from a group of 7 or 8 children to an
energetic and vibrant part of the club.
Millbrook now run an under 12s, an under 15s and are close
to getting a third side somewhere between those two age
groups. The club has also strengthened the youth coaching
set-up with 5 coaches now qualified or close to it.
And this youth set-up is hugely important to the club for both its own organic growth but also more importantly
for being able to provide the opportunity for the younger
population of the local community to get involved with the
gentlemen’s game.
Rugby Union is a growing sport and with the Rugby
World Cup being held in this country later this year the club
understands its responsibility in assisting to promote the
game and provide a fun and friendly atmosphere for those
children who want to give it a go. Besides this, the club has
been working with local schools on the RFU-backed “All
Schools” project - acting as host for the local area.
The next step for the club will be to convert their youth players
into senior players in the men’s teams when they come of age.
The club has big plans for the next 5 years - all of the previously
mentioned achievements are considered to be great steps in
moving forward but the club aspires to push on further and
achieve all that it is capable of!
