Andrew Evans is a club sponsor of Nant Cony RFC.
He recently told Rugby Club Magazine, “I have been a
sponsor of the club with my garage business for five years
now but my main involvement with the club is through my
son Gruffydd who plays No.8 for the under 13’s or No.6 on
occasion and has had a spell with the Eryri Schools.
The U13’s are competing well this season as are all the
teams from seniors downwards, with the youth really
excelling. Nant Conwy are a real community club who attract
players from a very wide area, this reflects on the stature of
the club as being friendly and inclusive.
It was suggested recently that Gruffydd play for the U14’s
and this caused him a dilemma as he didn’t wish to let his
friends down in the U13’s. I would encourage everyone at
the club to keep doing what they are doing and wish them
all the best for the future.”
“I’ve been involved since the 1979-80
season having joined because I wanted
to play rugby with a good bunch of
lads. The season has gone very well
so far; we are in the final of the North
Wales Senior Cup and going well in
North Wales Division 1 North.
Our ambitions include completing
some projects such as the club site, the
car park, lighting and setting out. We
are also looking at making the training
pitch into a full size pitch with a new
lighting system. It’s a very community
based club and we aim to maintain our
high standards on and off the pitch.”
