OLD LEAMINGTONIANS FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Like Old Leamingtonians RFC, Wright Hassall has been supporting the local community in Warwickshire for many years from its founding days in Leamington nearly 170 years ago. We are very conscious of our responsibilities as a large, local employer, not only to our staff but also to the wider community of which we are very much part. We actively encourage and support the involvement of our staff in a wide range of voluntary work across a range of sectors, both in and out of work hours, and are proud that members of our firm play at and support Old Leamingtonians RFC. Being involved in sport is important to us as a firm; Wright Hassall was one of just 17 solicitors firms and barristers chambers that provided pro bono legal support to the 2012 London Olympics and we regularly advise athletes, clubs and sports governing bodies on legal matters; we also sponsor a number of local sporting events including the annual Regency Run and MacRide. We are delighted to be supporting Old Leamingtonians Rugby Club WRIGHT HASSALL wrighthassall.co.uk Old Leamingtonians RFC is a very strong and active club which is investing time in getting people into sport at all ages through their minis, junior, ladies and senior teams. We are proud to be part of the OLRFC family and to support the club and its members. Leamington Archery Society rent another large area and regularly holds major events at the club. The club is also a designated Caravan and Camping site which attracts much needed income during the summer months. The facilities are deemed such that we are regular hosts to county cup matches, county representative matches and have provided training facilities to Wasps RFC and Scottish Exiles RFU. The club has produced several players who have gone on to national honours or county age group representation and the Club’s current President Mike Hemming is currently serving the second of his two year term as President of Warwickshire RFU. Our greatest challenges for the future will be related to the retention of our 16-24 year olds but we will achieve this through positive experiences related to playing and coaching at the club and also to grow the game more widely by attracting players of all abilities, social members and volunteers. We will also endeavour to enhance the clubhouse and grounds so as to ensure the club maintains its status as a vibrant social and rugby playing venue within the community, the county and beyond. Despite our first teams relegation the mood within the club is still good. We realise that we have a young team capable of more and both the main committee and playing management are already preparing to re-focus following the difficulties of this season. We are looking to seek promotion back to Level 7 rugby at the earliest opportunity. 28 Issue 54
