alchester Alchester A lchester RUFC play their home games at the Fritwell Playing Fields on Fewcott Road in Oxon and their first team currently competes in the Southern Counties North League. They are led by the team of President Peter Surman and Chairman Chris Kimber and the club is looking to progress under their guidance. This season it would be fair to say that their first team has not perhaps enjoyed the campaign that they would have liked, having put together a league record of three wins and nineteen defeats from their 22 matches. This saw them finish near the bottom of the table with fourteen points on the board. With the season now finished they will be keen to draw a line under this campaign and look at how they can improve during the off-season. There were some positives to take from their performances and so long as they can build on these they should be in for a better campaign next time around. The club has already started to make plans for their 2015/16 campaign and are on the lookout for new players that will be able to come in and boost the squad. They are keen to bring players in of all ages with no experience necessary and pride themselves on providing newcomers with a warm welcome. Bringing in some additional quality to the squad could provide the current group of players with a much needed boost and a little extra experience could help them to improve significantly. It will certainly be exciting to see how they get along next season. Alchester is a club that is fully committed to playing an important role in their local community and this is reflected in the fact that they also run a second team. This allows them to give twice as many players a game every week. A major benefit of having an additional side is that it allows their first team to benefit from far greater strength in depth. If they are ever left short on numbers through injury or work commitments they have the option of calling players up with a limited amount of disruption. Although Alchester has not enjoyed the season that they would have liked this time around, this should not take away from the good work that has been getting done at the club. Everyone at Rugby Club Magazine would like to wish them the best of luck for the future. www.pitchero.com/clubs/alchesterrufc - Twitter : @Alchester_RUFC www.sportip.biz 15
