mellish Mellish B ased at the War Memorial Ground on Mapperley Plains in Nottinghamshire, Mellish RFC is a fine example of a club that is committed to playing an important role in their local community. We caught up with First Team Coach Daniel Edson to find out more about the club. Involvement Juniors He started by telling us about his involvement with the club, saying, “I have been involved in the club since 1997 as a player, and more recently as a coach since 2007. I was first brought to the club by my parents as a 5 year old and immediately fell in love with the sport and more importantly the club. It is such a friendly family club and everyone involved is so friendly and supportive of one another and I couldn’t see myself being involved in any other club. Working within any sports club has its challenges of course, but for me the positive rewards outweigh these. When you see hundreds of rugby players on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning enjoying such a fantastic sport, that for me is the biggest reward and better than any extrinsic reward out there!” “On the junior front there has been even more success with the Under 15’s losing out by a conversion to Dronfield in the semifinals of the NLD Plate and the Under 12’s were knocked out of the later stages of the NLD Shield festival by virtue of tries scored. The biggest junior success came for our Under 13’s who won the NLD 7’s M
