newcastle emlyn FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Dai Lewis is a long term fan of Newcastle Emlyn RFC and he recently told Rugby Club Magazine, “I have been supporting the club for many years but more so over the past 5 years when I stopped playing golf due to a shoulder injury. I have also sponsored the club for around 5 years now and it is great to see the boys doing so well. I feel that they are great ambassadors for West Wales rugby and are flying the flag for all the clubs in the region who are quite close-knit. I would like to wish everyone associated with the club continued success.” Our ambitions are to purchase more land and create a fourth pitch, extend our car park and look to build some form of indoor training facility.” Director of Rugby Marc Lloyd also took the time to speak to us, saying, “By now I have been involved with the club off and on for around 25 years, from the days of playing for the junior sides, through to the Youth and then for the 1st team. “The most challenging aspect at the moment has to be in keeping all squad players happy in regards of the amount of time each player plays. At present we luckily have the strongest and largest squad most probably the club has ever had. Watching us win games by playing an attractive brand of rugby that we as a club have worked hard upon installing in our game plan is the most rewarding thing. “At the moment the club is buzzing - this is clearly shown not only in the support we get during home games, but also at away grounds. The vibe during training, prior to match days and during match days shows that. In a way nobody associated with the club wants to see this season finishing! Dai Bryant is Newcastle Emlyn’s 1st team tight head prop who started playing for the club in 1988. He told Rugby Club Magazine recently when he was asked his age, “Yes I am 27 now,” he laughed. “I am just so proud to be part of this team and of the young men in the squad who are an excellent bunch of players who are both talented and very professional. I have played in each division for the club since Division 6 and our training regime was very different back then. I know our current young lads are very meticulous about their preparation and go beyond the call through conditioning themselves physically with their training regime out with the usual expectations. We have a very together club at Newcastle Emlyn and this is from top to toe including the chairman and committee to our coaches, players, fans and members and I would urge the teams to continue giving their all for the rest of the season.” 52 Issue 54
