old elthamians One of the major steps in Old Elthamians continued progression is the move of their senior section back to Eltham College. Traditionally Old Elthamians RFC is for the old boys of Eltham and the link between the two continues to go from strength-to strength in the present day. At Eltham College every pupil is known and valued as an individual. With excellent facilities, pupils are encouraged to perform at their highest level; in academia, sport, music, art and drama, there is scope for everyone to realise their potential. Simon McGrahan is the Development Director at the College and took the time to tell us more about the College and their link with Old Elthamians, saying, “The school itself achieves fantastic academic results (90 per cent A*- B at A-level) (70 per cent A*-A at GCSE).” “It’s great that we can provide an excellent academic education and we also have the facilities to aid development outside of the classroom. Rugby is one of the many important parts of our pupil’s education along with a number of other sports. Everything is in place here to allow our pupils to progress in whatever sport they choose and they have a great set of sporting opportunities. “The link between Old Elthamians and Eltham College is progressing well. It’s positive for our boys to see a natural progression for them to go on and play for the club and the link works well for everyone involved. “They used to play their fixtures at the school and following talks over the last two or three years I’m delighted to say that they are gradually moving back home with the Senior Rugby moving here in September. “It’s great to see the club doing so well at the moment as everybody at the College likes to see them being successful. The club is only going to get stronger and having that association in place will help to raise our profile and publicise the fantastic facilities that we have to offer.” www.pitchero.com/clubs/oldelthamians - Twitter : @ElthamiansRFC www.sportip.biz 9
