jarrovians Community “We are very much a community club, we are open to all areas of the community, and with the asset transfer of the local community centre this then reinforces the club ethos of encouraging all people, ages, gender etc. to participate in sport. With this new era we are expecting the Rugby section to grow and develop and certainly protect the future of the club.” Challenges/Ambitions “As previously mentioned, the Asset transfer and the drain on the current resources, both staffing and financial are our biggest challenges. The expectation is that rugby clubs will grow on the back of the world cup and we as a club are preparing for the additional influx of players of all ages and gender. In the coming years we want to be able to sustain 2 senior men’s sides, a mini’s and youth section and develop the girls section into a thriving ladies team.” Tamara Taylor, current England Women’s Captain and Jarrovians Coach “I came to the club in October 2013 when I moved back to the north east. It’s a tough job as a coach when there are limited players on a Tuesday night at training. The boys that turn up are hardworking and dedicated. If we could get a few more down, we would really be able to progress as a team. It’s really rewarding to see the improvement in the individual players, however, young or old, the guys have really improved their skills. I’ve mixed emotions from the season at the moment; frustration from some close games, that were winnable, and a lack of tries scored recently, but the bigger picture is a huge improvement from the previous season, in not only results, but the ability and skill level of the players. Over the remainder of the season for the men’s teams, we will keep working hard, and try to get that win! Youth rugby is really important, not only for a feeder into senior rugby, but for the community around the club. Rugby is a game for everyone, and Jarrovians have been working really hard alongside the RFU in the All schools projects in the local schools, to get rugby embedded into the curriculum, and then an exit route into the club. Rugby is such a family friendly sport, and Jarrovians is such a welcoming club; the youth breathe life into the club house.” DIAL-A-CAB EXPRESS Free text back .
