colne & nelson 5 years. Playing standard improvements are now starting to come through and will increasingly become the focus of the energy of the club management We’re currently in mid table with mixed results and are very much a work in progress. The club is now starting to build for next season and are looking at developing young players with that goal in mind. Youth Development is crucial to us and we invest heavily in the section. We employ a Community Rugby Coach costing the club around £12k per annum. Our biggest challenge in the coming years will be keeping the momentum and getting the improvements in the facilities to be reflected in the playing standards and results. The biggest challenge will be to have enough volunteers to keep the infrastructure we are building going and supporting the players. That is keeping a playing model that makes playing good value for money. In playing terms we want to move up two levels (from 9 to 7). For junior rugby our goal is to have 4 additional teams, to have a colt’s team and to have a girls’ team. In terms of facilities we want to complete the program and to be financially solvent with a growing surplus to invest in the future.” Images courtesy of 5 Little Boys Photography www.pitchero.com/clubs/colnenelsonrufc www.sportip.biz 47
