as to say that we probably have the greatest following of all of
our opponents.”
Challenges/Ambitions
The biggest challenge for us will be remaining financially
viable – with sponsorship becoming harder to secure and with
no clubhouse to support us paying our way is very difficult.
Another challenge will be keeping our fantastic squad together
which can be difficult with the more talented players often
being encouraged to join other teams.
We would love to remain competitive and carry our success
forward – we will approach the WRU and enquire about
starting up a Youth side as we realise that this is so important
for the future development of our team.”

Phillip Pritchard of Phillip Pritchard Carpentry & Joinery
is one of the clubs principal sponsors this year. He told
Rugby Club Magazine about his long association with the
club, “I played on the wing for Aberbargoed from the age of
18 and retired two seasons ago at the age of 39, I still play
the odd Boxing Day game.
Our team and coaches have developed immensely this
season and regularly bring fresh ideas to the training ground,
I help out with some fitness coaching whenever I can. The
league restructuring has worked well for our travelling
requirements this season and means less of those earlier
leaving times. We are already attracting more players and
our success as a club is a large part of that. I would like to
wish all my friends and family continued success through
Aberbargoed Rugby Club and long may the good times
continue!”
