Rugby Club Magazine caught up with their Secretary Gareth Edwards to find out more about the good work that they’ve been doing lately. He told us, “I’ve been involved for more than fifty years now. I enjoy being a part of the club, particularly some of the successes that the team has had over the years. We’ve won a few tournaments and got to the final of the West Wales Cup once. “The mood at the club is pretty high at the moment. We’re doing well in the league at the moment with games in hand on the teams around us. We’re in the last eight of the bowl as well so we’re hoping to do well there too. “A big part of the success has been the work that the three coaches have been doing. They’ve got the boys believing in themselves and playing with real confidence. There’s a good level of professionalism at the club now and the players have really brought into putting in the level of commitment needed to be successful. “Rugby is a very important part of the village. We’ve a clubhouse that is open to the community to use and they have the option to organise any events that they’d like to so we’re playing an important role in the local area. “Youth rugby is very important to the club because it is from there that we should be getting the next generation of players for the club. We did lose our youth team a few years ago and we did suffer from that “When events are put on then we still get good numbers, particularly on match days .” 104 Issue 53 at first team level. We’ve now got rugby from U7s all the way up so there’s a strong set up that we have in place at junior and minis level. “The biggest challenge for the club will be to continue to provide an opportunity to play the game for the community. That’s not always easy, it is not necessarily the rugby that is suffering but more the clubhouse these days which means we have to find different ways to raise funds at the club.
