N
arberth Rugby Club plays their home games at the Lewis Lloyd Ground in Pembrokeshire and their first team
currently competes in the SWALEC Championship. They are a great example of a club that plays an important
role in their local community with a number of sides across various age groups.
This season, their first team has been in solid form, putting
together a record of 11 wins, a draw and 6 defeats from their first
18 matches. This has left them sitting in the top half of the table
with 51 points on the board.
They will now be looking to finish the season off with a good run
of form in order to claim as high a league finish as they can. Not
only will this be good for morale at the club but it will also provide
them with the perfect platform upon which to build as they go into
the off-season.
Rugby Club Magazine caught up with Club Representative Bill
Ridge to find out more about the good work the club has been
doing lately. He told us, “I was attracted by the buzz in Narberth
RFC after having playing football previously. I’ve been involved
with the club for 25 years but didn’t start playing rugby till 28. It’s
never too late though and I still play the odd game!
In my role I actually enjoy the financial side, trying to get the
figures to stack up, not easy nowadays, tying to be more efficient,
that’s not saying I don’t enjoy watching the rugby because I love
watching the juniors right through to the 1st team…but I’m no
coach and have no interest in that role!

As a club they are extremely welcoming and very much a
community club who have maintained a very high level of
commitment and enjoyment over the years in whatever they do. It has been a pleasure to have been associated
with them. I would encourage all those involved at Narbeth to keep up the good work and continue in the same
vein as before because it is obviously working, best wishes to everyone for the remainder of the season!”
