llangadog FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Rhydian and Aled Davies have both played for Llangadog and Rhydian, recently speaking to Rugby Club Magazine about their positive association with the club saying, “My career was fairly short lived with a cruciate injury however I have always remained close to the club and my brother Aled played inside centre for many years. It is easy to enjoy the club because they have such a good group of guys down there and this season could see them go all the way. My company has sponsored the club for around 10 years now and I like to help out when I can. I wish everyone continued success for the rest of the season.” 20 odd years, with the addition of a few younger recruits (our future). While still playing, I had the honour of being asked to be Chairman. I have a lot of fantastic memories of my time at the club, but my favourite has to be the time when we had a season or two struggling to field a full 15 side, week in week out, due to injuries and player recruitment. We would never call off a game, and would play with 12, 13, 14 men. This particular Saturday, our fixture was an away league game to Penlan RFC (Swansea ); we were holding up the bottom of the table, and Penlan were top, it was in the last month of the season, Penlan were a good side, and very physical and brutal, for some reason or other, we had a lot of players pulling out, due to weddings, funerals, injury, being abducted by aliens etc. We didn’t want to call off the game, so we rounded up a lot of our veterans, these guys hadn’t played for a number   90 Issue 52  of years, and the only exercise they had was lifting pints of beer, nearly everyone in the team was over 40, pushing 45. It was a tough, brutal game, and unbelievably we won, I have never played in a team, which had as much passion and heart and a will to win against all odds, as that day, a truly very special memory. We are on a good run at the moment and the mood here is electric. The good form is down to a few new recruits this season, which strengthened the squad, good coaching, and the on/off field camaraderie between the players. We hope to finish in the top three, hopefully on top of the pile. Our clubhouse has lots of favourable comments from visiting teams, we are always working on it, keeping it up together, our changing rooms and wc’s are on the ground floor, while upstairs, we have a bar, lounge, and eating area, which leads to a very large balcony, which is very close to the pitch, so has a great view.
