ompeting in the North Lancashire Division One, Ashton Under Lyne RFC have been in good form this season and are
currently positioned near the top of the table. Social Secretary Neil Pearson took the time to tell us more about the good
work the club has been doing lately.
Involvement
The Role
He told us, “I have been involved with
Ashton under Lyne RFC for 7 years now
as a player. I have represented the 1st
team for 7 years, and been captain for 4
years from 2010 – 2014. I am now the club
‘social secretary’.
I used to be a member of another local
club, and my best pal was a member
at Ashton. I had become friends with
many of the Ashton lads before joining
and was aware of the great friendly and
welcoming atmosphere to players and
their families. On a weekend I had no
game I went to watch Ashton in a friendly
and got thrown a pair of boots to have a
run out with them, and I have been there
ever since.”
