They are led by the team of President Francis Jelley and Chairman Nicholas Ingham and the club is looking to progress under their guidance. First established in 1969, Rossendale has come a long way from then when they played games on Farmland High above Rawtenstall. At this time they encountered significant difficulties getting games against established sides with little in the way of facilities and no reputation. Now though, after much hard work behind the scenes they are a highly respected establishment well known for the way that they play the game. With a history of which they have every right to be proud, their current group of players will be keen to claim more success in the coming years. This season they have put together a solid league campaign with a record of 8 wins, a draw and 8 defeats from their first 17 matches. This has left them sitting in a safe mid-table position with 45 points on the board. The team will now be keen to finish off the season with a good run of form in order to finish as high up the table as possible. This will be important for them as it will provide the club with a good platform from which to build as they head into the off-season. One of the standout features of the Rossendale set-up is the superb youth section that they have in place. This part of the club looks to provide youngsters from the local area with an opportunity to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst helping them to reach their full potential. 70 Issue 52
