With senior teams, a veteran team, mini and junior sections and ladies rugby Ellesmere Port is truly a club that has something to offer for everyone. Pride of the North Their superb work has not gone unrecognised either with the club having won the Pride of the North Award in 2013 and 2014. In 2014 more than 2,600 people voted for the Oilers to receive the award for which they received a commemorative plaque, a barbeque and a visit from England’s World Cup Winner Neil Back. Back joined the club for the NatWest RugbyForce weekend and told www. chesterchronicle.co.uk, “Ellesmere Port deserves a lot of credit having won the Pride of the North for the second year in a row. 62 Issue 52 They rallied together and have really shown what can happen when the community gets behind their club. It was great to come down to Ellesmere Port over NatWest RugbyForce weekend and witness their community spirit first hand. I really enjoyed getting stuck in and wish the club all the best for the future.” This Season Competing in the South Lancs/Cheshire Division 3, their first team have been in good form so far this season, putting together a record of 5 wins and 4 defeats from their 9 matches. This has left them sitting in the top half of the table with 27 points on the board. A particular highlight of the team’s performances has been the attacking brand of rugby that they have been able to produce under the guidance of Head Coach Steve Dorrington. This is reflected by the fact that they have racked up an impressive 297 points at a rate of more than 30 per game. In Form Their form so far leaves them well positioned for a strong second half of the season and they sent out a message to
