They are led by President Geoff Bland and have been progressing well under his guidance. This is a club that is fully committed to providing players from their local community with the opportunity to play the game and are always keen to welcome new players of any standard. They state on their official website that their aim is, “enjoyment, involvement in a sporting day out, a game of rugby and a bit of friendly banter.” This approach has led to the club producing some talented players in the past, including Jim Brough who represented England (1924/25) and also played professional Rugby League for Leeds. He was a true Silloth legend. So far this season they have been in superb form, having won 15 drawn 1 and lost 1 of their 17 league matches. 60 Issue 52 This sees them sitting proudly at the top of the table with 76 points on the board. This should provide them with the perfect platform from which to go on and achieve success in 2015. As long as they are able to keep up their recent level of performance it will be difficult to see any of the other sides in the league preventing them from claiming the title. This would be a just reward for all of the hard work that has been put into the club in recent times. One of the highlights of their performances so far this season has been the attacking style of rugby that they have been producing. This is reflected by the fact that they have racked up an impressive 691 points in the league alone, making them the top scorers in the competition. This will certainly have meant that any supporters attending their matches will have been well entertained and should encourage more of the local community to get behind them in the future which in turn has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue. Silloth Tigers Rugby Club has a superb set-up behind the scenes and this is what is allowing them to be successful on the pitch. Hopefully they will be able to keep up the good work for many years to come and everyone at Rugby Club Magazine would like to wish them the best of luck.
