BURY BURY Based at the Bury Sports Club on Radcliffe Road in Greater Manchester, Bury RUFC currently competes in the North Lancashire Division Two. They are led by the team of Chairman Gary Chester and President Martin Freschini and the club has made a considerable amount of progress under their guidance. This season they have made a promising start to the ir league campaign, managing to win 3 of their first 4 matches. This has left them sitting just behind the pace setters in the early going with 15 points on the board. If they can keep up their recent level of performance they will be in with a good chance of finding themselves top of the pile before too long. So long as they are able to retain their current group of players and perhaps make one or two quality additions they should be in for a successful season. One of the major highlights of the team’s play has been the attacking brand of rugby that they have managed to produce. This is reflected by the fact that they have scored an impressive 155 points, making them the top scorers in the league. This has certainly meant that any supporters attending their fixtures have been well entertained and should encourage more of the local community to get behind the team in the future. This in turn has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue. One of the standout features of the Bury set up is the superb youth section that they have in place. This part of the club looks to provide young people from the local area with an opportunity to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst helping them to reach their full potential. 92 ISSUE 49
