ESHER ESHER Based on Lower Albert Road in Worcestershire, Evesham RFC’s first team currently compete in the Midlands 4 West (South) League. They are led by the team of Chairman Ali Sands and President Paddy Hartley and have made a considerable amount of progress under their guidance. Their first team has enjoyed a good start to the current campaign, having compiled a record of 2 wins and one defeat from their first 3 fixtures. This sees them sitting in the top half of the table with 10 points on the board. This should provide them with the perfect platform from which to build as they look ahead to the rest of the season. So long as they are able to retain their current group of players and perhaps make one or two quality 90 ISSUE 49 additions they will have a good chance of mounting a serious title challenge. One of the major positives to take from their early fixtures has been the attacking brand of rugby that they have managed to produce. This is reflected by the large number of points that they have scored which sees them as one of the top scorers in the league. This has ensured that anyone attending their fixtures has been well entertained and should encourage more of the community to get behind them in the future. This in turn has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue. One of the standout features of the Evesham set-up is the superb youth section that they have in place. This part of the club looks to provide youngsters from the local community with an opportunity to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst helping them to reach their full potential.
