At present, there is no funding available to get players from the ages of 6 upwards playing the game as Sport England do not target participation below the age of 14. This is a big, big mistake and we are in danger of losing a whole generation of players (and possibly clubs) if this isn’t addressed and quickly. It is our ambition to maintain our current level of success and to continue to challenge for silverware. This is always going to be difficult in Maryport, as there are always other playing options for players. It is up to us, to make the club as welcoming as possible for players, parents and spectators, to keep them supporting the club. “It is our ambition to maintain our current level of success and to continue to challenge for silverware.” www.rugby-club.biz 53
