The club has put together a history of
which they have every right to be proud
having first been established in 1960 by
Lionel Goodman, Bob King and Ronnie
Williams who wished to further their
rugby at senior level. The club initially
played at the Henderson school playing
fields under the captaincy of Glen Carter
with The Lord Nelson Pub acting as their
clubhouse.
Over the years the new club developed
well and began to reach their full
potential, making the move to permanent
facilities in 1975. They acquired the
‘Britannia Hut’ from a local army barracks
as changing facilities and begun building
a new clubhouse in 1980. The bar was
the first thing to be constructed!
The club and Rugby Union in Norfolk
as a whole received a major boost over
the summer when they were chosen to
be a recipient of a Transforming Social
Spaces Grant for the 2015 World Cup
which is of course due to be staged in
England and Wales.
The grant will be used to improve their
social facilities and to provide a facility
to be used by the local community.
Speaking to the club’s official website
after the award, Club Chairman, Pete
Blinkhorn said, “We are delighted
that our project has been chosen as
a recipient for a Transforming Social
Spaces Grant. We will now have some
of the best facilities in the area that local
people from Norwich, Hethersett & Little
Melton can use.
The 2015 Rugby World Cup will inspire
a new wave of people of all ages to
