We also have strong links with Taunton School, who are sponsors of our youth section, and Kings College, who also sponsor us, and with whom we have pre-season friendly matches scheduled for our U14–U16 age group teams in September. We also hold an annual charity rugby coaching day for teams from the U7 level through to the U16s, in which we are assisted by coaches from the Royal Logistics Corps (RLC) and the Army Rugby Union. A squad from the RLC then play a select XV from Taunton Rugby Club, with the proceeds going to Veterans Aid and to the Youth section. “Taunton Rugby Club’s youth section has had some very good results through all of the age groups.” Our local community charity this year is the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. We feel a strong connection with this charity, as earlier this year one of our U13 coaches, Rob Odams, had a serious road traffic collision and had to be airlifted to hospital. The club would like to take this opportunity to pass a message to Rob. We wish him a speedy recovery, and he is sorely missed within the youth section. Taunton Rugby Club’s youth section has had some very good results through all of the age groups, and retains players all the way from U7 through to colt level, many of whom go on to play for the club at senior level.
