BIGGLESWADE
Griffith was a recent England Under 18
squad member which is a great honour
for him and the Club). The transition from
Youth to Senior Rugby has recently been
programmed with the 2nd XV becoming
a Development Team which has been
successful with the young players gaining
necessary experience at a suitable level
and being monitored with the better
players progressing to the 1st XV.
With last season’s good results and an
off field plan in place the atmosphere at
the Club has been “buzzing”. A strong
community approach has seen a good
rapport with local schools, both primary
and senior and the club has hosted
both training sessions and matches/
tournaments for local schools and
youngsters. The Club has also been
involved in several town events and
has continued its “Santa Night” over
Christmas when over 35 members
visited various hostelries in the area to
raise funds for the local Hospice and
other worthy causes.
Without doubt season 2014/5 will be
tough and one the 1st XV will have
to up its game, but Captain Jimmy
Caulfield is well aware of this and
has got the support of his players for
the challenge. With the support of
an experienced committee they are
hopeful of consolidating their position
and in the long term of being able to
sustain a steady progress.
