STRATHMORE
Stuart Gray, Club Captain
“I joined the U18 team for the 2001-2002 season after
being invited by a friend. I was impressed immediately
by the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I have
played for the club ever since.
The mood is very positive as the club is thriving at
present with plans for an extensions underway, the
club going through the Positive Coaching Scotland
accreditation numbers in both the senior and junior
sections strong.
We are actively involved in the community. Senior
players participated in a Forfar fun run in full kit this
year and club members volunteered at an event at
Glamis Castle recently. In addition, the club house
and facilities are used by the local running club and by
youth football teams.”
I think the biggest challenge for us is the national issue
of teenagers slipping away from sport in their late teens
as they find other hobbies or those who move for work
or university affecting our future playing numbers.
The 1st XV is aiming to win the league this season
with the 2nd XV aiming to build on last season’s finish.
Overall the senior section are looking to continue to
progress in the leagues with the back bone of the
teams coming from local players.”
