EAST HULL Lee Hall, Player Stuart, Director of Rugby “I’m currently in my second spell with the club having played for them from 2007 – 2009 during a very successful period under the guidance of Lee Radford. This was what attracted me to the club because I knew that East Hull was a team that were going places due to the success on the field and with Lee coaching as well, his experience would be good for me as a player and potential future coach. The name East Hull was a big attraction in itself as the history, success and backing from the community, plus the quality of players at the club has always been of a high standard. “I’ve been involved for 38 years and have just taken on the role as Director of Rugby. We’ve got a new Committee together and have entered the Winter Pennine League as summer rugby wasn’t really working for us. It’s a very tight knit club with some very committed people involved in it who give up a lot of time to keep it going. There are a lot of characters both on and off the field with a great sense of humours and whose company I enjoy a lot. The players at the club are very talented and it’s a pleasure to play with such a quality group. It’s an honour and pleasure to put the shirt on, as it comes with a lot of history, so game days are a very good experience. Playing amateur sport is all about enjoyment and loving your hobby and coming down to training and spending time with the lads is what I enjoy the most. Practice sessions on a Tuesday and Thursday are very good and current coach Dean Reacher does plan some enjoyable sessions which makes training a pleasure for us.” Its great being involved with the lads here and seeing them come through the ranks. I get a real buzz out of the success that they are getting out of the game. There’s a really good atmosphere here now. With dropping out of the Conference we had to take a backwards step to move forwards and we’re happy with where we’re going. We’re very much a community club here – we have a lot of local players and are committed to giving anyone looking to play the game the chance to do so. We never turn any players away. We get some good support from the local community as well through local businesses etc. which is vital for the progression of the club. The biggest challenges for us are keeping all of the kids happy and off the streets. We want to help them to reach their full potential. We’ve got a really strong Committee in place and are excited about what we will be able to achieve in the coming years.” Tony Elvin, Club Representative “I have been involved with the East Hull club for around 4 years on/off with the youth first and now more recently the open age section of this very successful club. Over the last few years I have been doing talent spotting for a super league club not in Hull though. My role is PRO and I have come on board to build a solid platform for the open age side of the club. It can be really tough at the moment building the club’s finances up. We have 3 big events in September alone to cover the running of a team in our local Hull District League with a lot of our youngsters using this route to go forward into the Pennine Winter League with our more experienced players and a sprinkling of talented younger players. We are very lucky to have one of the best youth set ups in the country run by some fantastically talented people with bags of ambition. We are without a doubt a community club; where we are based runs through 2 very big housing es FFW2f
