COCKERMOUTH “The most rewarding parts of being Head Coach are seeing players from 17 to 50 enjoying their rugby week in, week out and giving you 100% effort and dedication because you are prepared to give them some of your time. We have one player, Stefan Highton, who started playing senior rugby for the club in the 1980s, his desire, commitment and fitness levels are still amongst the highest in our group and that helps drive us all on. The most challenging parts are to try and spend enough time outside of the training and game time to ensure you are organised and prepared on and off the field to keep producing a quality environment to keep players, club volunteers, sponsors etc. supporting the club. This takes a lot of communication which is difficult when in amateur rugby you so spend so little time together.” Everyone at the club has worked hard to build a positive atmosphere as Chris explained, “Over the last few years the club has really strengthened on and off the field and there are a lot of developments which have seemed to get the backing of whole club and there is a lot of positive energy around. This has resulted in many new programmes and projects being completed. I am so glad to be part of this as the club has experienced some really tough times since moving to its new ground and a small group of die-hard club officials have kept the club going and now deserve some time to enjoy a club which is bouncing.” 12 ISSUE 46 “Over the last few years the club has really strengthened on and off the field.” W Lindsay and Son being a traditional butchers shop offers customers an extensive range of beef, lamb, pork and poultry.
