Lenzie Veseyans To borrow a quote from the political pundits ‘it’s the economy stupid’. A large percentage of the club’s income comes from the bar, the level of which depends to a large extent on player numbers and through that the number of home games played by the senior teams. Lenzie Lenzie RFC is a club that plays a vital role in their local community, particularly in relation to the development of young players. Rugby Club Magazine caught up with Club Secretary Charlie Stewart to find out more about the good work that they have been doing. He told us, “One of the main challenges facing this and almost every other club is how to increase player numbers. When I started out the local school, Lenzie Academy, in common with many others throughout Scotland had up to 9 rugby teams playing every Saturday and at the start of each new season the rugby club could expect to get an influx of school leavers to swell their ranks.
