Veseyans Veseyans Veseyans Veseyans RFC is based on Little Hardwick Road in the West Midlands and their first team currently competes in the Midlands 3 West North Division. They are led by Chairman Mark Tonks who is supported by Secretary Nick Murch and the club has made a considerable amount of progress under their guidance. Their first team enjoyed a superb season this time around managing to put together a record of having won 20, drawn 1 and lost 1 of their 22 league matches. Unsurprisingly, this saw them finish top of the table with 96 points on the board which was a superb achievement for the side. They will now be enjoying the success they achieved but it will not be long before they start to turn their attention towards their next campaign. If they can retain their current group of players then they should be in with a great chance of further glory. They have also built a reputation for having a tough defence, having established the best defensive record in the league. This mix of flair with the ball and committed tackling without has come together brilliantly to give all of the fans at the club a season to remember. Veseyans is not a club that focuses solely upon senior rugby however and they also have a number of youth sides in place. These sides look to provide youngsters from the local area with an opportunity to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment. A particular highlight of the team’s good form this time around has been the attacking brand of rugby that they have produced. It is important for any club to be able to produce their own talent, particularly in the current financial climate and it will be a major boost for the senior section if they are able to rely upon quality coming through. This is represented by the fact that they have racked up 795 points, ensuring that any supporters attending their matches have been well entertained. In order to help their young players to make the sometimes difficult transition into the senior game they also run a 2nd XV. This allows them to give them experience of the adult level game even if they are not yet considered ready for first team action. Another benefit of having more than one team is that it allows the first XV to benefit from far greater strength in depth. If they are ever left short on numbers then they have the option of calling players up with a limited amount of disruption. There is much to admire about the work that Veseyans have been doing recently and their league win this year was a just reward for all the effort that has been put into the club. They appear to have everything in place for a bright and successful future. Coaching staff overseeing their youth development are confident they have a number of players coming through with the potential to go on and play first XV rugby.
