Berkswell
and Balsall
Berkswell and Balsall RFC is based on
Honiley Road in Warwickshire and they
currently compete in the Midlands 2 West
Division.
They are led by the team of President
Graham Parry and Chairman Steve Parker
and are looking to progress under their
guidance.
It would be fair to say that the team has not
perhaps enjoyed the season that they would have
liked this time around as they finished with a
record of having won 7, drawn 1 and lost 14 of their

22 matches. This saw them finish in 10th place in
the table with 15 points on the board.
With the season now complete they will now be
keen to turn their attentions towards making
improvements ahead of the next campaign. So
long as they are able to retain their current group
of players and perhaps make one or two additions
they should be in with a good chance of achieving
some more positive results.
A particular highlight of the Berkswell and Balsall
set-up is the good work that they do with young
players from their local area. They have a number
of youth teams running which look to provide a
safe and enjoyable environment in which to play
the game.
It is important for any club to be able to produce
their own talent, particularly in the current
financial climate and this is an area that they
appear to have covered. It will be a major boost for
the first team if they are able to rely upon players
coming through.
In order to help their youngsters to make the
sometimes difficult transition into the senior
game they also have a 2nd team running. This
allows them to give players experience of adult
level rugby even if they are not yet considered
ready for first team action.
Another benefit of having more than one side is
that it allows the first team to benefit from far
greater strength in depth.
If they are ever left short on numbers through
injury or work commitments they have the option
of calling up players with a limited amount of
disruption.

Although Berkswell and Balsall have just endured
a difficult campaign, this should not take away
from the good work that they have been doing.
Their youth set up is superb and so long as they
continue in the same manner then they should be
able to look forwards to a bright and successful
future.
Myton
Warriors
Based at the Marist Sporting Club in East Yorkshire, Myton Warriors ARLC currently
competes in the National Conference League Division 1. They are led by the team of
President Dave Leaf and Chairman Paul Hood and are looking to progress under their
guidance.
Their first team has made a
solid start to their present
league campaign, managing to
put together a record of having
won 6 and lost 4 of their 10
matches.
This sees them sitting in a midtable position with 12 points on
the board and plenty of time
to push on. There have been
a number of positives to take
from their early season form
and they have a promising
platform upon which to build
as the season progresses. If they
are able to put together a good
run of form in their coming
games there does not seem to
be any reason why they will
not be able to mount a title
challenge.

In order to help as many young players as possible to make the

also runs an ‘A’ team. This allows youngsters to gain experience

There is much to admire about the set-up that Myton Warriors
currently has in place and they appear to have everything in
place to enable them to look forwards to a bright and successful
future.
Everyone at Rugby Club Magazine would like to wish them the
best of luck.
