PENALLTA higher league finish next time around. A standout feature of the Penallta set-up is the superb youth section that they have in place. This part of the club looks to provide young players from the local area with the chance to reach their full potential in the game by providing them with a safe and enjoyable environment in which to play. It is important for any team to be able to produce their own talent, particularly in the current economic climate and coaching staff overseeing this section of the club are confident that they have a number of players currently involved with the potential to go on and play senior rugby. Their youth team demonstrated their huge potential recently by managing to win the WRU Youth Cup. Speaking to their official website after the victory, club representative Martin Rowe said, “ remarkable to enjoy our third visit to the National Stadium since the turn of the century. That we came away with our third winning title provides testament not only to the superb ability of the youth, but also to our composure at such a mighty venue. Not only does the Youth side play majestic, entertaining rugby; but rugby deserved of the biggest prizes. Telephone: 029 20 851274. www.britanniadaynursery.co.uk 10 ISSUE 45 BATH For a village club like ours it really was Callum who is the son of Nursery Director Tracy Hewer joined Penallta in August 2011 and played his first game for the club at Under 12’s in September 2011, scoring 24 tries in his first season. He has just completed his third season with the club, although this last season has been very frustrating for him after suffering a serious injury, a broken collar bone, just 4 matches into the season. After putting in a lot of hard work to regain fitness he did make a comeback before the end of season. He is now looking forward to a more rewarding season next year when he will start his fourth year with Penallta and will represent them at Under 15’s level. Jacob Baghurst is the son of Nursery Director Cindy Baghurst. Jacob is relatively new to the game of rugby but is already proving to be a very valuable member of the Penallta U8 team. He has shown outstanding performance, potential and immense tagging in recent games. Jacob is looking forward to the next season and developing his rugby skills further. Well done Jacob. BATH RFC is a club which has regularly achieved terrific success on the field through the years and are in the hunt for silverware again this time around.
