PENALLTA
higher league finish
next time around.
A standout feature
of the Penallta set-up
is the superb youth
section that they
have in place.
This part of the club
looks to provide
young players from
the local area with
the chance to reach
their full potential
in the game by
providing them with
a safe and enjoyable
environment in
which to play.
It is important for
any team to be able
to produce their own
talent, particularly in
the current economic
climate and coaching
staff overseeing this
section of the club
are confident that
they have a number
of players currently
involved with the
potential to go on
and play senior
rugby.
Their youth team
demonstrated their
huge potential
recently by managing
to win the WRU
Youth Cup.
Speaking to their
official website
after the victory,
club representative
Martin Rowe said,
“
remarkable to enjoy our third visit to the
National Stadium since the turn of the
century.
That we came away with our third
winning title provides testament not
only to the superb ability of the youth,
but also to our composure at such a
mighty venue. A small club with big
confidence on a grand stage.
Enormous credit must go to Stevie
Richards and his team of coaches. Not
only does the Youth side play majestic,
entertaining rugby; but rugby deserved
of the biggest prizes. What is even more
pleasing is the fact that Stevie and his
team run two youth sides each week.

BATH
For a village club like ours it really was
Callum who is the son of Nursery
Director Tracy Hewer joined Penallta
in August 2011 and played his first
game for the club at Under 12’s in
September 2011, scoring 24 tries in his first season.
He has just completed his third season with the club,
although this last season has been very frustrating
for him after suffering a serious injury, a broken
collar bone, just 4 matches into the season. After
putting in a lot of hard work to regain fitness he did
make a comeback before the end of season.
He is now looking forward to a more rewarding season
next year when he will start his fourth year with
Penallta and will represent them at Under 15’s level.
Jacob Baghurst is the son of Nursery
Director Cindy Baghurst. Jacob is
relatively new to the game of rugby but
is already proving to be a very valuable
member of the Penallta U8 team. He
has shown outstanding performance,
potential and immense tagging in
recent games. Jacob is looking forward
to the next season and developing his
rugby skills further. Well done Jacob.
BATH RFC is a club which
has regularly achieved terrific
success on the field through
the years and are in the hunt
for silverware again this time
around. Rugby Club Magazine
spoke with Press Officer
Helen Bayes to find out
more about the good
work that they’ve
been doing.
