CALDICOT CALDICOT has been rather disappointing but we will attempt to re-establish this in the future subject to demand.” Progression CALDICOT Caldicot RFC is based on Longfellow Road in Monmouthshire and their first team has just enjoyed a solid season competing in SWALEC Leagues Division 4 East. They are a club that plays a vital role in their local community and Rugby Club Magazine caught up with their Secretary Keith Mellens to find out more about the good work that they have been doing. Involvement He started by telling us about his involvement with the club, saying, “I originally played rugby for the youth section of the club in 1972 and have been a member ever since. Seeing players progress through our youth team and then representing the club at senior level is one of the most rewarding factors of being involved.” Atmosphere “The atmosphere here is very positive at the moment and we are looking forward to next season with optimism and enthusiasm. The youth team have just won the District Youth Plate and the Athletic team have won the Newport, Pontypool and Gwent District Division 1 League title. Our first team have competed strongly in Division 4 East. We have a young squad and believe that the side will continue to improve next season.” Community “We are a community club providing opportunities for all age groups. Youth rugby is very important to the club and almost all of our senior squad originally played youth rugby for us.
