Paulo Friere
Born in north of Brazil, 1921
The economic crisis forced him to live in poverty and hunger from a young age
Freire became a grammar teacher while still in high school.
His pedagogy:
It isn’t just reading a word, but reading the world
It involves the the development of critical consciousness, allowing students to question everything around them, being historical or social situations around them, reading their world.
For education, Freire proposed dialogue between teachers and students, where both parties learn, question each other and both participate in meaning meaning.
