Admirer of Fred Dibnah rebuilds‘ Chimney’ in Greater Manchester

IN August, Danny Smith, a roofing contractor based in South Yorkshire, was asked to attend to the iconic property belonging to‘ Fred Dibnah,’ a very well known‘ Steeplejack, to rebuild his chimney.
Smith, 44, described himself as a“ Fred fanatic,” and felt incredibly proud to attend to the property, stating the following:“ The first time I saw the chimney stack standing there in all its glory, I honestly felt like it was Christmas morning.”“ I couldn’ t stop smiling.”
“ It’ ll always be a job I’ ll remember.”“ To think I was working on Fred Dibnah’ s own roof is something I’ ll never forget.”
“ As far as I know, I’ m the only man from
Barnsley who’ s ever been up there.”“ I later found out the chimney pots had come from one of Fred’ s friends.”“ No two chimney pots were the same.”
Smith has made himself known for following Dibnah for many years.
He recently obtained a‘ Tailgate,’ belonging to one of Dibnah’ s cars, in Norfolk, considering it as a“ Priceless piece of British industrial history.”
His enthusiasm was the driving force throughout his career, especially when referring to chimney refurbishments.
