Ulti-Mate marks 5 years with the launch of Ulti-Slate
Ulti-Mate Roofing and Building Products has added Ulti-Slate to its roofing range: a lightweight, thermally efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional slate, designed to reduce structural loading.
Why Ulti-Slate
Easier to handle and cut than traditional slate, with no breakage. Reduces structural loading, useful where the existing roof structure is the limiting factor Thermally efficient, helping improve energy performance on roof conversions. Resists moss and algae, so it maintains its appearance over time. Made from 100 % fully recyclable, heat stabilised, UV protected eco-polymers
The specifics
Ulti-Slate is supplied in carry packs of 15 tiles, covering one square metre at approximately 8kg. Ridge and hip come in packs of five, covering one linear metre at approximately 3.1kg. It can be laid down to 15 degrees at 200mm gauge, or down to 12 degrees at 150mm gauge.
Manufactured in the UK under ISO 9001 standards and tested to demanding BRE specifications, Ulti-Slate is backed by a 30 year durability guarantee. It’ s available in five UV stabilised colours with matching ridge and hip.
Where it fits
Ideal for roof conversions, renovations and new builds, particularly where weight reduction and thermal efficiency are priorities. Also suited to roofs prone to breakage through vandalism, such as park and communal buildings. Ulti-Slate has already been used to transform conservatory roofs into fully functional living spaces in a matter of days.
Stock and lead times
Dark Slate is held in stock. All other colours are made to order, minimum 900 slate and 450 ridge, four week lead time.

Founded by David Arendell and Tim Atkins, Ulti-Mate has now grown into a dedicated team of eight staff, managing Sales, Logistics and Distribution. The Sales Team, with the addition of David Rolph and Shane Mitchell brings to the Business over 100 years of roofing experience and now supplies over 250 stockists throughout the UK.
The massive benefit of being part of Patterson and Rothwell is that it brings over 40 years of manufacturing experience in construction to Ulti-Mate, along with in-house production capabilities and access to over 70 injection moulding machines.
This gives Ulti-Mate a superb manufacturing platform supported by Internal Quality Management around ISO 9001 & ISO 14001, as well as working closely with the Building Research Establishment( BRE) in Watford. It also brings a massive wealth of internal technical and performance knowledge around the different grades of plastics used in Production, ensuring that they are suitable for the design applications within the Roof Structure.
The company is proud of its early successes as well as supporting Manufacturing within the UK, supporting continued employment in Oldham, Greater Manchester, of over 100 employees.
