Some job seekers in the legal industry prefer to do it alone and handle all aspects of the job search themselves . This does eliminate the possibility of miscommunication and something falling through the cracks because one person is doing all the work , but one person doing all the work does naturally slow down the process compared to if multiple people were sharing the work as with other forms of job searching . A job seeker like this may already have years of decades of experience in the field and may already be familiar with the nuances of the hiring process for legal industry jobs , so they research legal firms they want to work at , update their resume , apply where there is a position they would like to fill , and more .
For other job seekers in the legal industry who prefer to use a staffing firm to aid in their job search , they typically choose a staffing firm that specializes in the legal industry . Such staffing firms have contacts within law firms and know about various positions that are vacant or about to be vacant that the general public may not know about . Staffing firms can also aid in the job search process by providing feedback on how to fine-tune a person ’ s resume or provide training for additional certifications unique to the legal industry . The best part of all this is that the staffing firm can do these things while a job seeker can do other things , whether it be working at their existing legal job or networking at a social event for other legal professionals , for example .
Both methods of searching for a job in the legal industry have their strengths and weaknesses . Only the job seeker will know which is best for them , but a good rule of thumb with job searching ( and other areas of life ) is that , if one way isn ’ t working , just try something new .
