Medical Recruitment Trends for 2021
By : Alex Moyher
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused huge changes in the professional world . From millions of people switching from working in an office to working from home to scores of businesses worldwide folding because they cannot survive in the face of government lockdowns and lack of patrons . Companies in most industries are still reeling but there is one industry that is hiring people as fast as it can to meet the surge in demand for its products and services : the healthcare industry . Some people are trying to improve their health to give them the best chance to beat the virus if they catch it and others are seeking the best therapeutics possible to aid in recovery .
Employers in the healthcare industry are hiring many people directly , but the need for people to fill positions is so great that they are also turning to medical recruitment firms to help staff vital positions that save people ’ s lives . This is extra important in rural areas where it always has been challenging to fill those positions as most medical professionals tend to stick to urban and suburban areas . That is why in most rural areas , hospitals are much farther apart and it could take hours to drive to the nearest one . Medical recruitment firms have seen a big increase in the number of doctors and nurses familiar with telehealth or are willing to learn more about it quickly . Telehealth is the use of electronic communication tools to support clinical health care and it can help people in rural areas get vital medical advice from medical professionals much faster than if they had to drive to a hospital to see the same medical professional in person .
Medical recruitment firms have also seen an increase in the demand for travel nurses and clinicians . Most people are staying away from hospitals and doctors ’ offices unless it is absolutely necessary because those are the same places where someone sick with COVID-19 is taken . Travel nurses and clinicians provide healthcare in people ’ s homes , lowering their risk of contracting the virus . And because the demand for all of these jobs in the healthcare industry is so high , medical recruitment firms are seeing employers in the field offer bigger salaries and more bonuses to attract top talent . Many people new to the field are happy to see the temporary-to-permanent opportunities increasing so that if they can get hired through a staffing agency , they can one day become a full-time employee .
