The “La Source” Corner
Located directly after the start line
across from the main Formula one
Grandstand, the first corner or Spa is
the La Source hairpin - which takes its
name from the the many natural spring
water sources in the Belgian Ardennes
and specifically the Spa region.
La Source is the slowest corner of the
circuit and it is a zero visibility / blind
corner because of the wall at the end of
the pitlane exit.
On a dry track, you can safely use the
inner kerbing, an accelerate out of the
corner very early, making the most of
the entire track width as well as the
green carpeting on the outside of the
track.
However, on a wet, damp or greasy
track you need to pay particular
attention to the lower grip on the inner

Die “La Source” Kurve
Sie liegt direkt hinter der Startlinie
und gegenüber der großen Formel
1 Haupttribüne. Die erste Kurve von
Spa ist die La Source Haarnadelkurve
– welche ihren Namen von den
zahlreichen Quellbächen der Region in
den Belgischen Ardennen und speziell
der Region um Spa verdankt.
La Source ist die langsamste Kurve der
Rennstrecke und man fährt sie blind an,
denn durch das Ende der Boxenmauer
hat mein keine Sicht in die Kurve hinein.
Bei trockener Strecke kann man sicher
bis an den inneren Curb fahren und
sehr früh herausbeschleunigen. Somit
kann man die komplette Streckenbreite
nutzen, inklusive der grünen Teppiche
am äußersten Rand.
