The fact that most Formula one drivers rate this
as the best track, and Eau Rouge/Raidillon,
as the best corner in the world is just the
beginning. Spa probably demonstrates the
importance of driver skill more than any other in
the world. Situated in a natural bowl deep in the
Ardennes Forest, the original Spa circuit was
once a sensational 15,7km long and formed
a triangle that connected the three villages of

Not far away, the city of Spa itself was the
“coffee house” of Europe at the end of the 19th
century. Everyone with money, blue blood or
royalty status gathered there for the famous
thermal pools that gave name to the city.
As a playground for the first cars in the early
1900s, punters drove down to Francorchamps
and started driving circles via Malmedy and
Stavelot. After WW1 in 1920, the first road race
circuit was born as one of the first in Europe
and was first used for Grand Prix racing in
1925.
