Christmas

Volunteer Party!

In December, we celebrated the wonderful work our volunteers have been doing and acknowledged just how valuable they are to the smooth running of West Hatch.
The following figures are amazing and everyone should feel incredibly proud of their achievements:
• Volunteers spent 1,536 hours, walking, playing with, cuddling, clicker training, and sometimes snuggling on the sofa with our dogs.
• 500 hours, cleaning playing, talking to and cuddling the cats.
• 750 hours, cleaning rabbits, birds, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats. This list goes on and on.
• Our two office helpers Rosemary and Sharon, spent 152 hours scanning and saving the mountains of paperwork we generate with each animal that comes through the centre.
• 4,015 hours in the Wildlife Centre helping to clean out hedgehogs, ducklings, preparing feeds, power hosing pools, doing laundry and lots more!
• 376 home visits to ensure that all these animals have loving caring homes where they can live out the rest of their lives.
• Volunteers also provided foster homes for 65 animals this year. The difference this makes to the lives of these animals is immeasurable.
The centre is lucky to have so many wonderful volunteers and our Christmas party gives us an opportunity to say the biggest thank you for all they do. Their dedication to animal welfare never goes unnoticed and we and the animals are forever thankful to them all. It was also a privilege to say a huge thank you to Eddie Parsons, he’ s been volunteering with us for 20 years. We were able to present him with his long service award. Thank you Eddie, you’ re truly valued and hopefully you’ ll continue for many years to come.
