VOLUNTEERS COCKTAIL NIGHT
Almost 100 of our volunteers gathered for our annual Volunteers Cocktail Party to celebrate the people who contribute so much to the life of our Club.
A highlight of the evening was recognising our Volunteer of the Year, Frank Walker. Frank spoke warmly of receiving the award and reflected on the many facets of his volunteer service over several decades, particularly his contribution as a Category 1 Safety Auditor and his work supporting offshore sailors and racing programs.
The award was presented by last year’ s Volunteer of the Year, Vice Commodore Julia Hornsby, who also received the honour of being named Australian Sailing Volunteer of the Year in 2025 / 26.
53RD DICKO CUP
Now in its 53rd year, the Dicko Cup Series weekend is all about social sailing, shared experiences, and making memories, on the water and on the beach. Day one of the 53rd Dicko Cup was off to a great start at Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, with both the Racing and Cruising fleets getting away on time for a 12:00 start.
The yachts headed north to Lion Island, with plenty of excitement for the traditional Dicko Cup festivities at Hallets Beach later that day. As the combined fleets made their way up the bay, crews enjoyed a relaxed evening ashore, sharing stories, games, BBQ and celebrations at Hallets Beach before racing resumed the following day. Vice Commodore Julia Hornsby was part of the Race Management team and flew the Vice Commodore’ s flag aboard Alfreds1 for the event. She greatly enjoyed spending the day with the RPAYC sailors at Hallets Beach and, together with Rear Commodore Yacht Racing, Peter Farrugia, presented the prizes to round out a fun and social weekend.
