RPAYC - CHRISTMAS CRUISE REPORT_2024-2025 | Page 7

• “ Morning everyone , the island weather is looking good until Thursday any needing assistance call me on 77 . It will be better use of space to bring the smaller boats closer to the beach and fill the gaps in the outer row ”
• “ All , the bay is filling and we have started swinging to the east yet so we can get a small boat inside . The rest should anchor in the back row until the wind goes east and we see how the boats settle . Heavens Jo is in our dinghy guarding your spot with an oar and swear words ”
• “ Folks please remember we will all swing to the east this afternoon so you need to allow for that .”
I
think that I also recall a gratuitous post to the effect that we should realise that the bay was filling up and that the “ world does not wait for us ”. I think the stress of being parking attendant was getting to him as he saw all of the locals taking the spaces he had mentally reserved for us .
Arrival
By
12 noon most boats had arrived in Coal Shaft Bay which is well protected from any wind and waves from the north , northeast and east – see the map above .
First Arrival at Broughton and the Northern Beach – later to be the White Party NYE Beach
Later in the day the group enjoyed sundowners on the southern beach in Coal Shaft Bay . Ruby ( Geoff and Jennie ) provided a game of Finska on the beach which a number of cruisers enjoyed whilst others preferred to partake of drinks , nibbles and chat .
