FRIDAY 10 JANUARY 2025 – DAY OF DEPARTURE FOR HOME
On departure day the Port Stephens group set out early , really early , to compensate for starting from such a back maker whilst the Newcastle contingent left in two time slots . The first out was Matt and Jo . I don ’ t know what time because I was still asleep . The second time slot was the 7.30 – 8 am contingent and then the real stragglers who left as the gentlemanly hour of 9 am . The wind was 8-12 knots with the occasional flurry closer to home of 14-19 knots . The wind speed seemed to depend to some extent upon how far offshore one ventured . Suffice it to say that everyone arrived home and in one piece . Thank goodness !
