Bellissima ( Tania and Greig ) bid the group farewell this day as well as Amaranth II ( Paul and Lizzie – our new cruising members ). Both boats had a fantastic sail from Broughton Island to Pittwater reaching speed above 10 knots with a good south easterly behind them .
Greig and Tania Leaving
Athena also sailed to Newcastle and then to Pittwater the next morning .
Albatross had a prebooking at the Soldiers Point marina and were not able to join us due to having lost a day with their battery issue and went straight from Newcastle to their marina booking .
Not content with one visit the shark cave , certain members enlisted Matt and Jo to take them back again . This time the sharks were a bit less docile and were swimming back and forth quickly beneath the group . Margaret reports feeling her neurones firing as it appeared that she had intruded upon a one of their more active times , and it seemed to the casual observer in his tender that this visit to the cave was quite a bit shorter .
Second Shark Cave experience
Due
to the forecast of foul weather from the south for a few days it was decided to sail to Newcastle the next day and sit out the poor conditions in Newcastle Yacht Club . It did mean however that our paths would not cross with Albatross which had committed to two days in the Soldiers Point marina .
Jindarra requested that it be a ‘ race ’ to Newcastle to which Lucid and Heaven ’ s Gate agreed .
