The wind on the 3 rd January was predicted to turn strongly to the south which meant the cruise needed to relocate into Port Stephens for an anchorage conducive to strong southerlies . By the afternoon the wind had whipped up to 25 knots from the northeast with 30kt gust . Below is a photo of Jindarra taken just before 3 pm with only a headsail and still travelling at 8 knots or thereabouts .
