THE most prestigious event on the South African
Red Meat calendar – annual Royal Show Carcass
Competition and auction – will take place at
4.30pm today in the Sheep Expo Hall.
This special event is open to the public and is a
splendid opportunity for buyers to gain exposure
for their establiishments, by having the chance to
be able to offer their customers meat adjudged to
be the best South Africa has to offer.
The sales are accompanied by ribbons, accolades
and publicity and the media will be in attendance
to ensure maximum exposure for both buyers and
sellers.

meat on show.
Beef auction
The Champion, First Reserve, Second Reserve,
Champion Group of Three and Reserve Champion Group of Three. The remaining carcasses will
be sold by the abattoirs in terms of their standard
operational procedures.
Lamb auction
Approximately 40 carcasses are in this auction –
the Overall Champion, First Overall Reserve, Second Overall Reserve, Champion European Genetics, Reserve Champion European Genetics, plus
the top 12 Groups of Three. Those remaining will
be sold by the abattoir in terms of their standard
operational procedures.
Pork auction
Whilst pork carcasses will not be displayed, the
Champion, First Reserve and Second Reserve will
be auctioned. The remaining carcasses will be sold
by the abattoirs in terms of their standard operational procedures.
